Queen’s Award for Local Charity? Disappointment for Croston House.
Croston House , Cancer Help was nominated by the Garstang Soroptimists for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service - the highest award given to volunteer groups across the U.K. However, it was with great disappointment that they did not win an award this time.
Kath Boit the lead nurse said “All the staff and volunteers were very excited but” she added “all the good work that is done here could not have been achieved without the magnificent support of our volunteers who work at the day care centre on Croston Road and at the Croston House charity shop in Garstang. We are also proud to have had the support of many of the local traders and Sainsbury’s who selected us as their charity of the year plus donations from many individuals and organisations.
We are so proud to have been nominated for the award and it has generated much excitement and publicity for the house - we hope that we might be nominated again!"
