Garstang Soroptimists’ 40th Charter Anniversary
The Garstang Club has celebrated its 40th Charter Anniversary - taking a break with tradition away from the formal dinner, members. guests and friends enjoyed a sumptuous afternoon tea at the Crofters Hotel complete with celebration cake and all the trimmings! Our members cover a wide range of expertise, ages and years of service, from newer members of only a few months or years, to those who have given many years of service to the local community through our club.
Ruby Charter here at last
We haven’t got a clue
Let’s raise a small committee
To work out what to do
Will we make it formal?
Shall we be discrete?
Let’s go break tradition
And have a Sunday tea
The plans are set, the Crofters ready
The tables finely dressed
And in they come from all around
Our guests all dressed in red
We stand and chat and drink our Pimms
And wait for our delights
Then head off to the tables
To plates of dainty bites
Following our puddings
A lady of some importance
Our Hazel took the floor
To chart our Clubs ascendance
Then much to our amazement
It really was a quest
A cake of great proportions
Well Derek you’re the best
And finally champagne glasses
Were raised with great aplomb
Congratulations roundly given
Happy ladies all went home!
