Calling all bakers - it's time to put your best biscuit forward!
To contribute to Garstang’s celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Soroptimist International Garstang, Fairtrade Garstang and the Garstang Arts Centre are joining hands to hold the Platinum Jubilee Charity Biscuit Competition on Thursday 2nd June 2022.
The competition is open to everyone with three age categories:
- Primary School
- Secondary School
- Adult
All entries must use at least one Fairtrade ingredient in the recipe
Each entry costs ₤1.00. You can register and pre-pay the entry fee at the Garstang Arts Centre any time during May.
For each entry, please submit 4 (nut-free) biscuits on a small paper plate.
Label your entry to show:
- Name, age and contact details
- Recipe, including the list of Fairtrade ingredients used
Entries must be dropped off at Garstang Arts Centre (The Old Grammar School, Croston Road, Garstang, PR3 1EB) by 12 noon on Thursday 2 June.
Entries will be judged on appearance, texture and taste by a professional food judge.
Presentation of certificates and prizes for first and second placed in each age group will be at 3pm.
Prizes for 1st places kindly donated by the Co-Op Catterall.
Any untouched biscuits will be available for collection, or can be donated to be sold on behalf of the fundraiser for Tap Twinning UK.
All funds raised will go to Tap Twinning UK. For every £60 donation, Tap Twinning are able to help provide safe water and promote good hygiene in one of the world’s poorest communities.
Soroptimist International aims to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.
The Fairtrade mission is to connect disadvantaged producers and consumers, promote fairer trading conditions and empower producers to combat poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their lives.
