North West Clubs networking together
Regional support for our project on a busy weekend
Regional Meeting Saturday 28th June – three times a year clubs in the North West meet at Lancaster University to share views and ideas on projects and international issues and decision making.
At this latest meeting two Garstang members gave a short presentation on our backpack project – we were delighted to receive a large bag of flip flops from S.I. Morecambe & Heysham and a filled back pack from the Lancaster club.
The following day our Annual Regional Lunch took place at the Crofters Hotel; at this event we were excited to receive eleven filled back packs and three bags of assorted items including a large box of children’s tooth paste, coloured pencils and pencil cases.
The excitement didn’t stop there as the Garstang club were pronounced joint winners, with Grange-Over-Sands, of the Rose Bowl Trophy, awarded to the winners of the Regional Presidents’ annual challenge competition, details of which were in last months’ Focus. Well done to our ‘Star Gang’ team!
Spreading the word through friendship
Our Yorkshire friendship link in Wakefield has heard so much about our Back Pack project that they have decided to adopt this project in their club!
Please Keep Them Coming!
As the new school year approaches, please save any unwanted (wrong size/colour) back packs for our project, ring the number below to arrange collection and help us to keep sending ‘bags of hope’ for an education, and a better future, to families across the oceans.
A chance for relaxation
Garstang members, (currently having a ‘Mary Berry moment’ prepping for refreshments for the Dog Show), are looking forward to a relaxing evening cruising on the canal for our last social meeting before our summer break.
Our next meeting is September 10th – if you would like to get involved in our project work, and the varied social activities, please ring 01995606604 and I will be happy to invite you to join us.
Thank you all for your continued support as we try to improve the lives of women and girls and their families. Keep up to date through our website www.sigarstang.org.uk.
