ISTANBUL July 9th – 12th = 20th International Convention
Garstang members will join other SIGBI (Soroptimist International Great Britain and Ireland) members in this fascinating, bustling and friendly city.
The Convention, only held every four years, provides the opportunity of a lifetime to meet Soroptimist sisters from across the world, in this, one of the largest cities in the world.
The Convention Committee is a dedicated team of Soroptimists from the Turkish Union, working tirelessly to ensure an inspiring, interesting, and informative experience for all those fortunate to be attending bringing to life our Mission Statement “Soroptimists inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls through a global network of members and international partners”.
The Convention will celebrate the exemplary accomplishments of Soroptimists across all continents in improving the lives of millions of women and girls over the past 80 years.
Under the overarching theme ‘Educate to Lead’ Soroptimists from all over the globe have designed and implemented projects to support women’s and girls’ education, which will be displayed and discussed through workshops, presentations and Q and A sessions.
We at home, left in charge of the ship!, look forward to hearing all about the problems, projects and solutions achieved by our sisters across the globe.

Time to relax!!
A recent trip to Cartmel Races proved to be a day of mixed fortunes for eight members who had a fun day despite getting rather wet and not making the millionaire status!
This month we are looking forward to gaining a little expertise in the art of flower arranging with a demonstration by Jeanette Bretherton.
If you think you would enjoy being part of our club; if you agree with our aims; if you enjoy good company, fun and hard work; why not come and join us?
